Christine Slavik is a faculty member in Professional Studies in the Early Childhood/Child and Youth Care Department at the University of the Fraser Valley, British Columbia, Canada. A full time faculty member since 1997, Christine participates in campus and community committees and scholarly activities, including program development, research and publishing. Christine is currently completing a doctorate in Education in the Educational Leadership-Post-Secondary cohort through Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, with a research focus in planning, generative conversations and Appreciative Inquiry as a model of transformational change process.
In addition to holding various administrative and leadership roles in both the hospital and the academy, Christine has engaged in numerous strategic planning opportunities utilizing a strength-based approach to these processes.
Prior to her appointment at the University of the Fraser Valley, Christine worked as a Psychiatric Nurse, a Child and Youth Care Counselor and a Child Life Specialist. In each of these roles over a 30+ year career in human services, Christine engages with others in a relational and strength-based manner, ever open and curious with a “to lead is to learn” focus, seeking to share meaning.
